Today is a somber day of reflection...
Earlier this spring I found a journal entry which reflects what happened from
my perspective that day.
I will never forget my cousin banging on my door early that morning...
I grabbed my 2-year old and 4-month old and went to an apartment next door to
watch the news with friends.
I will never forget the terror that gripped my heart and I held tightly to my new baby
and watched the world crumble in front of me...

This past Tuesday we had a horrible thing happen to our country. Some terrorists managed to crash a plane into the Pentagon. Also, two planes crashed into the World Trade Center Towers causing them both to crash down. Killing thousands, if not hundreds (of thousands). Also, a plane crashed into Camp David, the long-time presidential get away. Forty-five are dead at Camp David.
They still have no idea what the mortality rates are in Washington and NY. Around 50,000 people worked at the WTC, to give an idea of the possible mortality rate. President Bush calls this the First War of the 21st Century. It worries me of the possibility of all-out war. If it would be necessary to do the Draft. In which case, Peter would probably be called.
(No worries, that didn’t happen!)
As soon as they find who the terrorists were working for, they are going to go to war. They call this an attack on America.
Today has been made an official National Day of Prayer and Remembrance. I feel for the people everywhere, but especially in New York. There are thousands that don’t know where their loved ones are.

I recently found this picture taken of Ground Zero present day where the twin towers used to be. Pictures don't do it justice...
Never forget...

PS If you want a really good read book about someone's personal experience being in the Towers AND having a disability, I highly recommend a book called Thunder Dog by Michael Hingson. (I'm not getting paid for this, it's not an endorsement.)
