Throwback Thursday: Thanksgiving Post from 2008

Welcome to Throwback Thursday! Tomorrow starts a month that we recognize for giving thanks all month long. While most of us do a great job of giving thanks throughout the year, I do love taking time to really focus on what I am grateful for. This November, I hope to send a picture a day of what I am thankful for. Here is a blog post I posted back in 2008, so many things have changed in the past 11 years, that I am going to note in red anything that has changed. Hope you enjoy!

November 2018-

Today my mind is a verifable wasteland of useless information.

And there I draw a blank.

How is it that on most days, my fingers cannot type as fast as my brain can think and I find myself getting typer's cramp just trying to keep up and then on other days, I sit here and stare at the screen, wondering what on earth I could possibly blog about.....?

Since it is November and the month when being thankful is not only a holiday but a time to possibly gorge one's self on wonderful food, I will blog about some of my blessings....

1. I am thankful that my Lord and Saviour gave His life so that I could live. Still do!

2. I am thankful for my wonderful husband. I could go on and on here and totally embarass him as I talk about all the fantastic ways in which I am thankful for him. Instead I will just say, "I got the best husband in the world, so there!". He is amazing STILL! And maybe even more so!

3. I am thankul for my four daughters whose imagination and spoken words at times astound me with the wisdom that young minds can often have. They still amaze me with the stories they write and their empathy towards others.

4. I am thankful for my son. Whose laughter and smiles make even the worst day a wonderful time to live. I'm now blessed with TWO sons! I had no idea 11 years ago that I would be blessed with a second son. God is good!

5. I am thankful for my son's birth mother, who in her love and compassion to see that all her children have loving homes, asked us to raise her son. Both my son's birth moms are amazing women that I treasure!

6. I am thankful for my great-grandmother, who at this time is still with us, for the wonderful testimony she has upholded through her lifetime. My great-grandma has since passed away but her memory and testimony still live on.

7. I am thankful for my parents who raised me to be an independent person. They showed me the value of a Christian marriage and put the desire in me to have a Christian spouse.  Which I am so thankful for!

8. I am thankful for in-laws who have been wonderful examples as well. I could not have picked better in-laws. Love you!

9. I am thankful for the friends who have stuck by me through thick and thin. The ones who don't care if you don't always look your prettiest, the ones who love you despite an illness that leaves you wiped out and the ones who would come over and hold your head for you while you puke. You know who you are and I am thankful for you! While some friends have gone and some friends are new, it's still the same, they are wonderful friends to have in your corner.

10. I am thankful for food, clothes and a place to live. While they may not be up to the world's, my friends or family's standards, they are what they are and they are better than nothing! Isn't God so good to provide just what we need? We live in the same home that we lived 11 years ago. We have been here for 14 years and what a blessing!

11. I am thankful for people who do not judge, ridicule or gossip. So...so thankful!

12. I am thankful for little daughters singing Jesus Loves Me at the top of their lungs in the grocery store. Who says that homeschooled kids can't be a witness to others??? Thankful that these same girls now sing in church. Although possibly not at the top of their lungs and more on key!

13. I am thankful for being able to be a stay at home schooling mom. While that means we don't always have money for extras, it means that I have a chance to see the light of learning in my children's eyes.  Amen for that! Have not regretted homeschooling for one minute!

14. I am thankful for little boy toys spread all over my living room. I never thought that I would have the joy of having a little boy. I wouldn't trade it for anything! Not even a perfectly clean house! Or having two little boys that are crazy and rambunctious!

15. I am thankful for my church. For the love and concern my brothers and sisters in Christ show. For a helping hand and words to help you grow. We have been through some tough stuff, but God has always been faithful to bring church family to pray us through.

16. I am even thankful for the cry I hear coming from my son's room at this moment that tells me i need to stop typing for 30 seconds and get his bottle back in his mouth.....cause it means: I have a son. Yes!

17. I am thankful for sleepless nights, RLS and fibromyalgia. Through those I have learned to pray more, lean on my Saviour and appreciate others who have gone through similiar things. I'm so thankful the Lord has healed me from all of that! God is so good!

18. I am thankful for not having enough money. For having to rely on the Lord. Having to trust for each bill. Knowing that He and He alone is in control. Those are things that draw a person closer to the Lord. AMEN!

19. I am thankful for unexpected phone calls from friends, texts, REAL mail and packages on the doorstep. I love, love, love real letters!

20. I am thankful for Life. Since posting this, I have had a couple experiences that have made me appreciate every day the Lord has given me. So thankful for each and every day He sees fit to bless me with!

Huh. I guess my mind isn't a complete blank after all.....

Praying that each of you has a wonderful Thanksgiving month. Take a moment every day to list something you are grateful for. It will amaze you what the Lord has done!

God bless,
Heidi
