Guest Post: Light of Love and Hope...

This post comes from my husband's Aunt Rosemary. I have always enjoyed listening to her stories and was so happy to have her share this one. Enjoy!

We were just married. Having stars in our eyes we had the world and the future before us! It was Thanksgiving and my hubby and I decided to visit his parents several states away. After a good visit we were on our way home, traveling through an icy mountain pass. Suddenly we hit black ice and our little VW began to bounce up and down and around like a rubber ball. Finally coming to a stop we landed right-side-up in the median instead of the drop-off on the other side of the highway.
There were many miracles around that accident, but God brought us through it alive. A week later we found ourselves at home, battered and bruised and achy. We were now in debt because of ambulance and hospital bills. Suddenly, the stars in our eyes grew dim and the whole world looked bleak. Our short “honeymoon” of bliss seemed over.
As we sat in misery one evening the doorbell rang. In came a family from church with a live Christmas tree, lights and ornaments. This being my husband’s and my first Christmas together we had almost no decorations. This family set up the tree as we watched, then they put on lights and decorated with ornaments – for us to keep!
Suddenly, our bleak landscape became bright and colorful! The love from friends and the beauty of the decorations warmed our hearts. Our eyes were lit once again with hope.
It is that way with Jesus. It is a bleak world. The landscape looks dim. But when Jesus comes with His love, suddenly the light of Love and Hope illuminates our hearts and it is all beautiful.
