it is Christmas Eve and our family is enjoying some much needed and desired down time from the craziness that often happens despite our best intentions at this time of year. We are eagerly looking forward to a Candlelight Service tonight, but other than that, we are just relaxing and enjoying life.
As I sit down and think about 2016, it's crazy to think about the changes our family has gone through in the past year.
All our kiddos seem
to be growing like weeds! Mac is 17 and a senior in high-school, she has
some plans for after school but is still trying to figure things out. George is
15, a junior and got her permit to drive in May. (Help!!) Sis is 13, a 7th
grader and full of pep and life. Shells is almost 12, a 6th grader and
hates school! T-Boss is 9 and in 3rd grade. He has overcome quite a
few challenges in this past year. While he still has developmental delays, that
has not affected his crazy personality and desire to be the clown in every
situation!
Since last year, our
family numbers have fluctuated greatly. In May, the young man that lived with
us for two years, moved to be with a family member. We don’t have a lot of
contact with him due to his current placement. However, T-Boss is blessed to see his "brother" at school every day. In July, we brought home a set
of fraternal twins from the hospital. They were three weeks early and so tiny!
We had them for six weeks and are thrilled to say that they are back with their
parents and doing wonderful. This couple has asked us to become their
godparents and stay a part of their family. About 30 hours after we took that
set of twins home, we got a call for another set of twins only two days older!
Another set of fraternal boy/girl twins blessed our home for about 3 months. They
went to a family member right before Thanksgiving and seem to be thriving.
Their mother contacted me last week and asked me to come see them when she had
her visit and it was wonderful to talk to her and see that she is attempting to
make some improvements in her life!
We now have a 3 year
old live-wire in our home! He is an amazingly complex and lovable kiddo that
requires a lot of love and understanding. He has been through so much in his
young life and has some issues because of it. Thankfully, it is nothing new to
us and our past experiences have helped us to be a good resource for this
kiddo. Again, we never know how long we will have a placement, but we always
pray that the Lord helps us to meet the needs of that child while they are in
our home to prepare them for the future.
From our home to
yours,
Have a blessed and
wonderful Christmas,
Peter & Heidi
(Mac, George,
Sis, Shells, T-Boss and “Stuart Little”)
