2020 has been a year of changes for everyone around the world. It could be easy to only see the negatives. All the things we weren't able to do because of this pandemic. So I want to focus on the blessings of God, both past and present, to remind myself, my children and whoever reads my blog, of just what an awesome God we have. July 29, 2007- (Shelby was 2 years old...)
Shelby doesn't have broken legs....
Want to know the story behind it now?
Last week Shelby did a head over tea kettle-like move at church. The kids were standing on the platform doing a little skit. She was leaning on the railing and flipped over catching one of her feet and hung suspended over the altar and floor. At the time, after getting consoled, we looked everything over and she seemed fine.
Along about this time, we can't remember whether it was before or after this incident, she started waking up at night just crying that her knees hurt. After a few days of talking to the doctor, they felt that they should see her. So we went in today. The doc decided to run x-rays just to eliminate a fracture in her fibulas. So that made a run up to the hospital...
Did I mention that in the middle of all this my phone was damaged beyond repair...(another whole story)…. and I was working for my grandpa to make money for Camp that I now had to use to buy a new phone cause the insurance wouldn't pay for liquid damages...…? Sigh....
SO.....the long and short of my very exhausting and long day is this:
A) Shelby does NOT have any fractures or anything. More than likely she pulled a muscle when she fell or she is going through growing pains.
B) After driving CLEAR OVER to another town, I was able to get a new phone.
C) I finished the work for my grandpa and was able to pay for the phone and have some left over for Camp.
There were several more blessings that happened today along with the stress, which made it much more bearable for sure!
Anyway, the sun has gone down outside and I am going to start loading the van so we can leave around 4am tomorrow morning!
God Bless! Heidi
Hindsight is 20-20:
Poor Shelby! I still can't forget, 15 years later, the look of horror on her face as she hung from the banister nor the feeling of my heart in my throat as I raced to help her!
Looking back at this day and remembering how we were so short of money, and had a broken phone and a child with possible broken bones, it would have been so easy to be discouraged. But instead I remember having peace in my heart as I knew that my Savior would take care of everything!
