You have probably noticed that I rarely post anything in real time. It's usually later in the month or often months later that I will post about something in our family.
There's a two-fold reason for this: A) for security. I realize and have noted that most everyone that most of my readers are family with a few friends sprinkled in. However, this blog is on the internet and I just prefer not to have too many clues as to where we live, when we might be gone from our home or where we are in general. B) As a busy wife and mom of 7, I rarely get a chance to pop out a post in the middle of a fun activity! I generally sit down a few times a month and work on my blog, setting up posts to come out for the following weeks.
All that being said, there are times like this morning that children are still snoozing in bed, my devotions/Bible time is over and I find myself with a few minutes to chat! So I decided this morning that I should have a title called "Real Time Happenings". I have no idea how often I will do it, but I hope you enjoy it when it occurs!
A few minutes ago, I got myself some breakfast and as I passed by our calendar, I was struck that there are only 8 days till Christmas! When did this happen? I have had one of the most laid back, relaxed Christmas seasons and still, it got away from me!
Last night we got home from taking a trip to visit family and look at a spectacular light show and Christmas program that our Headquarters church puts on. They have been doing it for 8 years, I believe, and despite all our attempts, we had never been able to go. We really enjoyed ourselves and the time to visit with Peter's parents especially.
On Saturday, we went to their house and enjoyed a cozy lunch with a fun surprise for the kids. You might remember this post from a couple years ago that Sierra wrote about Christmas with Grandma Barb and how she missed decorating cookies. Well, grandma Barb had a fun surprise for the kiddos: cookie decorating! She even went to the extra trouble to find dye-free decorating options knowing that Noah and Tony can't have the food dyes. What a grandma!
Here is a pic of our kiddos that grandma took:
And that is all for now as my kiddos are starting to wake up!
Praying you all have a wonderful week before Christmas!
God bless,
Heidi
