Throwback Thursday: She Was Found Faithful...

The following blog post was originally posted many years ago, I believe around 2008 or 2009. To this day, I remember how special "Aunt" Tina was to me. She fought in prayer for the people around her. To this day, I believe she is still greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

I went to a funeral today and it was incredible. I know that is not a term we normally use for funerals. However, the Spirit of the Lord was on the whole service SO strongly that you had no other choice but to say "incredible".

It was the funeral of a woman that literally was a "Proverbs 31" woman. I have known her for about ten years or more. She was always Aunt Tina to me although I am in no way related. She is the cousin of my sister-in-law and was a powerful influence in my brother's life. I remember her many times coming up to me and saying "How are you doing? How is your family? Your girls are so beautiful!" She wasn't in any way related to me, but because she knew and loved my brother as part of her her family, she added me in.

She was a wonderful, awesome woman of God. There was never any doubts in my mind that she loved the Lord and only wanted His best for everyone that she knew and loved.

My brother told me after she passed to be with Jesus, that when he was going through some of his toughest trials, that she would call and spend hours talking and praying with him on the phone. She always had time to help and encourage others, even with the large family that she herself had.

I am so thankful that I was able to go and rejoice in her life! It was a wonderful one. Even as the tears fell at the funeral, it was for rejoicing that she is so lucky to be able to be with Jesus. Not that luck has anything to do with it, it is having Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. And she did.

Do you have a "Aunt Tina" in your life? Or a better challenge: Is there anyone you can be a "Aunt Tina" to? You don't have to have amazing talents, just simply reach out to someone you sense needs a friend and let God do the rest!
