Tuesday Tidings: Funny Pictures By Shelby

Hey everyone!

I recently went through some old pictures and found some funny pictures of Sierra and I.
I think the person taking the pictures were taken by my mother or by my sister McKenzie.
P.S. I'm the one in the chair wearing the hat and ladybug shirt,
and Sierra is the one in the pink dress and plaid hat.

Well that's all for now.
Bye!

Tuesday Tidings: Sacramento Special Meetings.

Today's Tuesday's Tidings Is Brought By:
Sierra

NOTE FROM HEIDI: Before you start reading this post, I want to preface this by saying that over the years as I have seen my girls emerge and grow as young women, there have been so many times when I have felt helpless as a parent. I know you have all been there. You see your child going through something that you wish you could take away and make easier for them. However,  you know that in order for them to grow as a person and as a Christian, they need to learn how to lean on the Lord more than you.
I hope you enjoy reading the following blog as it was certainly a tough time we went through with Sierra but seeing how God has brought her through the other side, has been amazing and wonderful!

I believe it was two years ago, at Youth Camp, that there was a sermon on trials and how they made us stronger. How that in those times we would be closer to God. Well, I had been in a dry spot for a while at the time, so that night I prayed earnestly that God would send some trials my way.
The year passed and I forgot about my prayer. But this year at Camp Meeting I started to have a really hard time with tuning the devil's lies out. It was easy to lean on the Lord at first, but when it got harder I got upset.
Progressively harder trials came my way and each time I got more angry and depressed. I started to feel farther and farther away from God. Remembering to have my devotions in the morning got harder, and because of that, I wasn't getting the encouragement I needed.
Finally, I started to get angry at God, I wasn't in a good place. A really nasty trial came, and because of where I was spiritually, I was weak. I started changing as a person. I was hurting my siblings and my mom with my actions. I withdrew myself from them and was entirely too open-eared to the devil's lies.
Last month, it came time for Sacramento special meetings. I did not want to go, and in my cloudy sense of mind, I didn't even really know why. I assumed it was because I had a panic attack at the last youth meetings, but in reality, the devil knew God was working on me, and he was going to do everything in his power to keep me from going. However, my amazing mom wasn't going to let me get away with skipping, so I went with my dad and my other sisters.
God spoke to me in those meetings and made me realize that the reason I felt so dry before this trial started, was because of my self-hatred. That I needed to love myself because I'm made in His image. And He reminded me who asked for these trials in the first place!
I was so ashamed of myself! God then told me that He put me through the trails I'd been through to prove to me that He loves me and would never leave me. I felt real joy, which was amazing after wasting so much time trying to find it in temporary things.
The image that comes to my mind when I think about what I've learned is this: Outside you can find two kinds of sticks, the small ones don't break when you bend them because they move with the pressure, but the bigger ones are stiff and under pressure, they break. I realized that I was the stiff stick. What I learned is that if I don't trust God and I fight His Will, I'm eventually going to break. But if I lean on God in the hard times, He won't let me break, it will only make me stronger. The size difference represents our attitude about the pressure, when we trust our own understanding we inflate ourselves making it harder to bend. But when we don't try to understand why and trust in the Lord, we stay small. Small compared to God who has everything under control. This experience humbled me, and I can't thank God enough!!

Tuesday Tidings: Book Report

Book Report Time

By Shelby

Recently, my mom wanted me to do a book report on the last book I read.
Then today she told me for school to write a blog
on the book report. So, here you go!
Enjoy!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Book:

Sherlock Academy
It's about a school where boys and girls can go to learn to
be great detectives, like Sherlock Holmes.

Who:

Rollie Wilson and his friend Cecily Brighton.
They live close to each other and Cecily comes over to his house a lot
so they can do 'detective' stuff.
Rollie also has an Aunt Ei (really his grandma).
and she is also really important in the book.
The villain's name is 'Herr Zilch'.

What:

A story about a boy and his friend going to an academy/boarding school
and unraveling a mystery.

When:

He gets the offer to go to the academy on Friday, June 27, 1931
He goes to school August 1.

Where:

Sherlock Academy, a boarding school/academy for boys and girls
who they think are destined to become great detectives.

Why:

They don't know what 'Herr Zelchs' plan was,
but they think it was to shut down
Sherlock Academy.

Tuesday Tidings: That Rock

This picture is me and my little sister on our favorite rock at the river.
We don't really sit there anymore, but that rock holds memories.....
And all those memeries include Shelby.
It was our favorite spot because we could see the whole river very well
and it was the perfect sitting rock.
I remember reading on that rock.
I remember playing near that rock.
And most of all, I remember watching the river as the wind blew by
and we dipped our feet in the water, for endless hours.

Thank you,God, for great memeries!

I Hope You Enjoyed My Blog Post!

Tuesday Tidings: Camping With All The People Of The World...

All The People of The World!

Hello, this is George again. I hope you have liked my blog posts thus far!

Today, I am going to talk about my favorite time of year: Campmeeting. Once a year, my family travels many hours away for a giant church get-together. We usually wake up at about five or six in the morning so that we can get there before dinner. If we are lucky, we can get there before lunch, but that is only if the traffic is about half as bad as it usually is.

When we finally arrive, the first thing that you see is the giant tabernacle, where most of the services are held. As soon as the car comes to a stop, we get out and head on into the campgrounds office, where you pay one dollar to receive a key to the cabin in which you will stay. Then my sisters and I race our way to our cabins. My older sister and I both have our own cabins, but my two younger sisters share a cabin with my mom, dad and little brothers.

When I get to my cabin, the first thing I do is unlock it, then get to cleaning. I start by taking the blankets and pillows out from underneath the plastic dust sheet, and then I put the plastic underneath my bed and I sweep the floors and put up the curtains. The cabins are made completely by wood, and the campgrounds is HUGE and almost completely filled with Fir trees. After I shoo out the resident spiders and other bugs, I go to the supply cabin, where I get sheets and anything else that I need to comfortably stay in my cabin. Then I get my bags from the car, and take my stuff to my cabin to unpack.

After I finish hanging up my clothes, and making my cabin look like a tiny home, I start walking around the campgrounds. The air is so fresh there! I feel so refreshed just looking at it! It is always a wonderful feeling to be back.

At this point in time, I start looking for friends of mine. People come from all over the WORLD just to enjoy the fellowship of their Christian friends. I am completely serious when I say that people come from all over the world. There are people from Africa, India, Canada, and of course, all over the United States.

It is so much fun talking to you guys, and I hope that you enjoyed this blog post about my favorite time of year!
