Throwback Thursday: Bounced To Sleep!

Welcome to Throwback Thursday,
It has been a lot of fun to go through old pictures here recently, I was so excited when I found this picture below because it was from the first year that we had Tony. We don't have a lot of online pictures of him during that time period as I still was printing off everything then.

Throwback Thursday: We Need To Grow Healthy and Strong

We keep remembering this little Jordyn-ism and how cute and funny it was. She would have been a little over 4 years old as this was the fall of 2005:

Family Friday: Happy Blogging Anniversary!

Dear Friends and Family,

It's hard to believe that it has been 14 years since I started blogging. I remember my husband telling me that I had enough crazy stuff happening with our sweet little family that I could write a book, so why not start with a blog. It hasn't been a continuous 14 years. There were a few down times in there. But the following post is the first one I wrote that started off my journey. I hope you enjoy!

Family Friday Throwback: My Daughter Is Now My Sister...

I suppose I would typically have posted this under my Throwback Thursday title, but because it has to do with family and a special event, I thought Family Friday worked better. This originally posted on my blog on Christmas Eve 2008, enjoy!

Happy New Year's Eve, Last Day of 2018

Dear Friends and Family-
I didn't take many pictures this year on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. I took more videos this year instead. I decided instead to sit back and enjoy all my kiddos as they opened their presents without worrying about pictures. I suppose I may regret it down the road someday. For now though...I really enjoyed just being in the moment.
Have you ever found yourself realizing that you need to sit back and just be in the moment? In this fast-paced world, it's easy to think we need to be on the go in all areas of our life. Take a picture of this, post to that, go here and go there. Sounds much like a Dr. Suess book, doesn't it?
Here is a challenge for the New Year of 2019 that I will be taking on for myself:

Take Time To Live In The Moment

Enjoy Life

Embrace God's Blessings

Name Them One By One
(Trust me...it'll surprise you what the Lord has done!)

I did take a few pictures that didn't turn out amazing, but still fun so I will share them below:

Have a wonderful and safe New Year's Eve!
God bless,
Heidi

Throwback Thursday: She Was Found Faithful...

The following blog post was originally posted many years ago, I believe around 2008 or 2009. To this day, I remember how special "Aunt" Tina was to me. She fought in prayer for the people around her. To this day, I believe she is still greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Not So Wordless Wednesday: I'M BA-ACK!

Wow...I am not really sure where time has gone to...looking at my calendar and my online photo album tells me what's been up for the past several months but how did it go by so fast?

In May, I mentioned that I was going to take a break for the summer. It just went a little longer than I anticipated! Now that things have slowed down, figuratively speaking, I am hoping to get back in the swing of thing. Plus, two of my girls have dozens of posts they are anxious for me to get online!

To get things going, here are a few pictures of some activities you can look forward to me posting about in the near future:

Some Pet Additions...

Some Trips to Our County Parks

Our Church's Annual Conference/Camp

Many Trips to Parks With Friends

A Trip To Silver Falls

A Teen Addition to our Family

Start of the new School Year

Monday Madness: SNOW DAYS!

Welcome to Monday Madness where I will talk about pretty much anything that comes to mind. From homeschooling to special needs to strange blog posts about silly objects to interviewing a family member...you never know what you might read on Monday Madness! Enjoy!

Yes...I know...compared to some of you lucky people out there, the amount of snow we got here in our home town this winter is ridiculously small.

I'm Thankful For: Tears....& Friends

Today I am having a hard day and I thought I would share it with you....

I am sitting in the Foster Parent Room at DHS and I am barely holding it together....

The tears....they are right there....and I am trying with all my might to keep them tucked away behind my eyelids where they belong....

But it's hard....there are some sweet loving people at DHS who know how hard it is to give up these little ones...

A friend walked in....as soon as I saw her, I fell apart....crying about my babies that are moving. I know it's best that they are with family. However, my heart still needs this moment to grieve.

Before long she was telling me about her hard day....then another friend walked in and told us about her day....after awhile, we were laughing like complete idiots and I thought, "Wow....I am so glad to have friends that can make my tears of sadness turn into tears of laughter!"

So....tears...they are natural and I am going to see more fall before these little ones leave....but before long, they will be replaced by tears of laughter....and that's ok!

Psalm 30:5....weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."

Till next time...

Have a blessed day and embrace the craziness in your life!

Growing Up...

When my girls hit about 8, I have a talk with them about what is coming up in their future as they grow up into young ladies as well as a little about the "birds and the bees".

I make it into a girly time full of little presents to make things fun.

I also include a neat book I found that talks about everything a girl needs to know about taking care of herself as she grows into a woman.

With my older two, a friend and I took our same age daughters together so they could share this growing up moment with a friend. When my next daughter came of age last year to have our little talk, she plugged her ears and said, "No, I don't want to hear about it! LALALA!" Pretty typical for this kiddo! However, a couple months ago, the older girls and I were talking in "girl code" about "stuff". Fred looked at us and said, "What are you talking about?". Her oldest sister looked at her and said, "You know, if you would go on your talk with mom, you would know what we are talking about." Fred looked from her to me and said, "Ok. When can we go?" It was decided that Fred and Bob would go together to make it "more fun and less embarrassing". (LOL)

Today was the day for their talk. They chose to go to a local Mexican restaurant where they decided it would be nice and loud so "no one would hear"!

We had a lot of fun, the girls enjoyed their lunch and presents. They surprisingly were not shy and asked lots of questions about stuff they had heard their sisters talking about. We really enjoyed ourselves and had a nice bonding moment, one of many to come with growing up and becoming young ladies!

I feel so blessed to see my little girls turning into beautiful young ladies!

Pumpkin Patch

Today was a BLAST! A friend of mine organized a pumpkin patch field trip to a local farm that does it up great every year. We had about 30-40 kids varying in age from tiny babies to middle school. And all the parents to go with it. It was a great group! I met a couple people that I had seen on FB on the different homeschool groups I am in and also got to chit-chat with other moms I know. Here are some pics from our totally fantastic day:

All in all, a great day! I was really excited to see how far our little guy has come with sensory processing today...the cannon was pretty loud, but he didn't freak out, he just covered his ears! Go Lil Mr!
