Today was supposed to be one of those earth-shaking, once in a life-time, you'll-tell-your-grandkids-about-this type days.
It was rumored to be the biggest storm since the Columbus Day storm of 1960-something. It didn't happen. Well, not the way people thought it would. It appears that it went North and got our friends on the Northern West Coast. There is another storm on the horizon and maybe that one will hit us hard next week.
At any rate, we were prepared with plenty of water, baby formula, food and all the things you want on hand when you know the power could potentially go out for hours.
My kids were a little disappointed that the storm didn't happen today as bad as was predicted. It WAS a very wet, stormy and wintery day. Just not as bad as they hoped!
Regardless, we managed to have a lot of fun just hanging out as a family and enjoying each other's company. I know it would seem that with Peter working from home and being a home-school family that we would see each other all the time and find a day like today boring. Quite the opposite. Peter has an office that is not attached to our home, so we only see him when he comes in to use the bathroom or have lunch. Add in homeschooling, Mac's part-time jobs and my running the twins to various appointments/visits....and well...we miss each other!
So today was a blessing....we hunkered down and enjoyed coloring, pillow fights, LOTS of reading, playing games, singing, Lego, the list goes on...it was just a great day....
Now the evening is wearing down...we have extra kiddos over sharing the evening with us while their parents enjoy a night out. The twins are snoozing away in their beds. Peter is reading a book, a treasured moment for him. And I am enjoying reliving our not-perfect-but-happy day.
Have a blessed Sunday tomorrow and here are some pics of our day:
(Not pictured: Me....and the twins, for obvious reasons.)
