Welcome To The Weekend!
How was your week?
Here is an update on mine...
If you have been following me here on my blog or on Instagram, then you know that this past Thursday (three days ago), I had a hysterectomy.
The short version: Everything went smoothly and the Dr has my body parts out to pathology.
IF you don't want to know the long version, stop here!!!
I won't get graffic or anything, just a warning!
I went in on Thursday morning around 8:15am and after three or so hours, I went into surgery. That all went well, took about two hours.
The results were slightly surprising as to what she found. When I was originally diagnosed, it was with Endometrial Hyperplasia. Which for me, was non-cancerous, but can eventually possibly lead to cancer in some women. I was also diagnosed with a small, relativiely small fibroid.
When she went in however, she found that my endometrial lining had basically exploded with fibroids in the past couple months, which would explain all the wonderful nasty side affects that I will NOT share with you. She also found that my endometrial lining was even thicker. Basically, I had a 5 or so pound "baby" in there. If you know me personally, you would have seen that I had appeared to have gained quite a bit of weight looking as though I might be pregnant. Interestingly enough, when I went in for surgery, I had actually lost weight leaving a very large extended tummy.
Anyway, my Dr is sending all to pathology but states that she doesn't think anything interesting will be found besides what she saw. I will update on that when we hear back from pathology, but I assume it won't be for a couple weeks.
I spent the first 24 hours recovering in the hospital. I come out of anesthia just fine, but my body does not do well with it. Finally we opted to go home because the only side affect left was the horrible nausea and I could be miserable just as easy at home as in the hospital! And frankly, I just wanted my Lazy Boy Recliner and a fan for my face. So home we went yesterday (Friday) afternoon.
It was several hours before I was able to really get up and down wihout feeling like I was going to puke.
It's almost 8am here Saturday morning and besides some tummy pain and gas, I am feeling much better. Still have very little energy but that is good because I am not allowed to really do anything for the next 2-3 weeks nor can I lift anything over 10-15 pounds for the next 6-8 weeks. So having little energy is a blessing. I may or may not have a tendency to overdo it if I feel good!
That's all on the homefront here. I just wanted to give a better update to those that were interested!
I want to say thank you to my mom for her hard work in taking care of the kiddos overnight as well as for setting up meals for us over the next few weeks. We appreciate it SO much!
Till next time...
Have a blessed day and embrace the craziness in your life!
Heidi
