Happy New Year's Eve, Last Day of 2018

Dear Friends and Family-
I didn't take many pictures this year on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. I took more videos this year instead. I decided instead to sit back and enjoy all my kiddos as they opened their presents without worrying about pictures. I suppose I may regret it down the road someday. For now though...I really enjoyed just being in the moment.
Have you ever found yourself realizing that you need to sit back and just be in the moment? In this fast-paced world, it's easy to think we need to be on the go in all areas of our life. Take a picture of this, post to that, go here and go there. Sounds much like a Dr. Suess book, doesn't it?
Here is a challenge for the New Year of 2019 that I will be taking on for myself:

Take Time To Live In The Moment

Enjoy Life

Embrace God's Blessings

Name Them One By One
(Trust me...it'll surprise you what the Lord has done!)

I did take a few pictures that didn't turn out amazing, but still fun so I will share them below:

Have a wonderful and safe New Year's Eve!
God bless,
Heidi

Family Friday: Welcome to Holland

I originally posted this on my blog back in November of 2008. My nickname for Tony back then was "Shorty" and he would have been 1 year old at the time. I now want to rededicate it to both our boys who have shown us that Holland is a lot more fun than where we thought we were going with the adoption of special needs boys!

Monday Madness: Snow for Christmas 2013

Back in 2013, our children were so happy to experience snow in December!
They considered it their early Christmas present...

Scripture Sunday: Luke 2:7

Dear Family and Friends,
Over the next couple days as you observe the birth of our Lord and Savior, we pray that you will be blessed by taking the time to rejoice in Him!

Family Friday: A Very Berry Advent

Dear Friends and Family,

On December 10th, I shared what our family does for Advent and that it is a special time for our family. Today I ran across a youtube video about why one foster/adoptive family chooses to do Advent. They have a fantastic website about fostering and adoption that you can find at Confessions of an Adoptive Family. You won't regret going and checking it out. But before you do, here is their video, they teamed up with Great Big Story and Ikea:

Have a wonderful First Day of Winter today!
Merry Christmas,
Heidi

Throwback Thursday: My Christmas Wish List

Dear Friends and Family,

Today seems like a good day to remind everyone about the reason for Christmas. If you followed my blog a couple years ago, you would have read a guest post from a friend of mine who came from circumstances that weren't ideal.

Real Time Happenings: Christmas Activities

Dear Friends and Family,
You have probably noticed that I rarely post anything in real time. It's usually later in the month or often months later that I will post about something in our family.

Monday Madness: Kimchi and Veggie Chips

Dear Friends and Family,

If you have been following my blog for any length, especially since the beginning of the year, you know that I have recently discovered that a majority of my health issues in my life have come from wheat and corn intolerance.

Suprise Saturday: What Does Joy Mean To Me? By Mckenzie S

What does Christmas mean to me?

That was the question I was asking myself this Christmas.
I thought about happy memories and sad memories,
but I still didn't have what I was looking for.
Then I prayed and asked God "Show me something this Christmas".
As always he gave me an answer. He reminded me that on December 11, 2016, I got a card from my papa that said: “What does joy mean to me?"
And it made me change my question from 'What does Christmas mean to me?'
to 'What does Joy mean to me?'

Family Fridays: That Crazy Uke Family

Dear Family and Friends,

Does your family have something that keeps them bonded together? Our family has a love for music. Even more specifically, a love for playing Ukuleles of all sizes and shapes!

Throwback Thursday: Grandpa Loved Christmas

Dear Family and Friends,

Many of you remember my grandpa, Bill Jordan. My grandpa died about 5 years ago and I recently ran across this post that McKenzie wrote a couple years ago. It's called Grandpa Loved Christmas and I hope you enjoy reading it. Maybe it will bring to mind some of your favorite memories of your grandparents or other loved ones around Christmas time.

May God Bless Your Day,
Heidi

Monday Madness: Advent

Dear Friends and Family,

One thing we love doing as a family during the Christmas season is following Advent in some way. We have done many different ones over the years. Some more complicated or time consuming than others.

Last year we tried a new one that even our older kids took to. (By the way, this is NOT a paid advertisement, we just love it!)

Scripture Sunday: Zephaniah 3:17

Are  you feeling discouraged or low?
You are a treasure to the Lord!
He rejoices over you and you bring Him joy.
So rest in Him today!

God bless,
Heidi

Throwback Thursday: She Was Found Faithful...

The following blog post was originally posted many years ago, I believe around 2008 or 2009. To this day, I remember how special "Aunt" Tina was to me. She fought in prayer for the people around her. To this day, I believe she is still greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
